Montverde Academy released the first quarter honor roll for upper school students and over 100 SIMA student-athletes made the list. Earning Honor Roll recognition is the epitome of the student first mindset that SIMA Director Mike Potempa instills in all program participants.

From day one, Coach Potempa tells the boys that the value of their education at Montverde Academy is incredibly valuable and being a student should come before being an athlete. This mindset allows the development of well-rounded individuals who have the opportunity to excel in soccer.

Earning Honor Roll status in such an academically rigorous environment is no easy task. Earning Cum Laude Honor Roll recognition requires the grade point average (GPA) to range between 3.5 and 3.7 while Magna Cum Laude requires a 3.8 to 3.9 GPA and Summa Cum Laude requires a 4.0 and above GPA.

These Latin Honors resemble a dedication to the classroom and one’s studies. With nearly half of our SIMA Honor Roll students achieving top honors under Summa Cum Laude, it is clear that our student-athletes believe in the mission of the SIMA program. When combining education and sport, there will always be opportunities.
