As many teams have seen the end of their seasons, the United Soccer Coaches released their selections for the 2019 All-Region Teams. Nine SIMA alumni received recognition in three different regions with eight alumni in Division I and one in Division II. Eight different collegiate rosters were represented by alumni in this selection.

Many have earned stand-out seasons and additional post-season awards within their conferences. These SIMA alumni selections exhibit a direct reflection of Montverde Academy’s campus diversity with seven countries represented. Caio Brandao ’19 (Queens) and Philip Mayaka ’19 (Clemson) are the youngest in the group as the only two freshmen making the cut. SIMA also has four juniors and three seniors securing honors as well.

First Team recognitions hold four SIMA alumni including Chase Vosvick ’17, Malick Mbaye ’16, Bruno Lapa ’16, and Philip Mayaka ’19. Lapa and Mayaka have also earned themselves spots on the MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalists list with finalists being announced tomorrow.

Additional alumni will continue their post-season run today as they play in the NCAA DII semifinals representing the University of Indianapolis and the University of Charleston (WV). Bruno Lapa ’16 will represent SIMA on the Wake Forest roster as they play in the NCAA DI semifinals on Friday.
