The Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy is excited to announce the Elite Training Program, an opportunity for current program participants who uphold SIMA’s high standards. Participants who are selected will have the chance to train one Saturday a month with our coaching staff.

SIMA program participants will be selected by the coaching staff based on their representation of SIMA and their work ethic over the past semester. These identity aspects include Most Valuable Player (MVP), Most Improved Player (MIP) and the SIMA Player of Identity (SPI).

The MVP is a SIMA student-athlete who represents optimal performance during training sessions and matches every day. The MIP is a SIMA student-athlete who represents exceptional effort in every single training session to maximize his strengths and improve his weaknesses. The SPI is a SIMA student-athlete who represents the core values of the SIMA Program on and off the field of competition showing work ethic, consistency, leadership, respect, resilience, humility, academic performance and athletic leadership.

With 10 teams currently in the SIMA program, staff coaches will analyze and observe training throughout the entire month to decide who will be selected for this elite specialized training. All announcements will be made through SIMA social media and the SIMA website.

SIMA Director and Head Coach Mike Potempa will lead the specialized training sessions with SIMA staff coaches assisting, allowing for a 2:1 player to coach ratio. As part of our 360 SIMA Elite Athlete Training, we will be implementing the most up to date technology by filming each specialized training session from six different angles using our GO-PRO tech system. Each SIMA Elite participant will receive a file with the highlights of the training session to review and study.

The overall objective of our SIMA Elite specialized training sessions is to continue to develop a culture of excellent and demonstrate what we refer to as “SIMA PRIDE.” These concepts are found below:

  1. SIMA Identity: Who we are as people. Who we are as students. Who we are as athletes.
  2. SIMA Objective: Live a life of excellence for future success in everything we do.
  3. SIMA Character: Develop a strong empathy and trust between teammates and coaches.
  4. SIMA Expectation:  Continue quality conversation about expectations and demands of each SIMA student athlete.

“As we continue to build upon the next phase of the SIMA Program, I believe that our vision for the 360 Elite Athlete Training Program is directly aligned with our mission and overall goals for the soccer institute,” said SIMA Director, Mike Potempa. “Living a life of excellence is not as easy as it seems, and we feel it necessary to reward those who make a distinct effort in all areas of their lives to be the best version of themselves they can be. I look forward to implementing this program in the coming weeks and am excited to work with those who consistently demonstrate our SIMA identity.”
