Los Angeles FC (Major League Soccer) announced that the Club has signed 18-year old defender Mohamed Traore, using the top spot in the MLS Waiver Order. The Montverde Academy student-athlete graduated this year from high school.

The native of Dakar, Senegal joined the Soccer Institute of Montverde Academy (SIMA) at 14-years old, and as a senior in 2019, was a leader of the program. A central defender, Traore also participated in Senegal’s U-17 National Team trainings during 2019.

“Mohamed is an exciting, young player with a lot of potential,” LAFC EVP of Soccer Operations & General Manager John Thorrington said. “We believe getting him in our environment will help him continue to grow and develop and prepare him for success at this level.”

He graduated being part of the Montverde Academy honor roll and his performances on the College Showcase and MAST reflected his daily work at the training field. We are proud that Mohamed will have the chance keep representing SIMA values in this next stage.
