Back in SIMA is all about former SIMA student athletes who have come back on to be a part of the current SIMA program. Today we highlight one of our goalkeeper coaches, coach Diego da Silva.

Coach Diego da Silva is from Tupã, São Paulo, Brazil. He played three years at Ole Brazil before coming to Montverde Academy back in 2010. Coach Diego was part of the first national championship team and claims it to be his best memory from his time in the SIMA program. After a successful 3 years at Montverde Academy, Coach Diego received an offer to play for Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama where he studied Business Administration. He was fascinated by the major and the quick opportunities in the work force that it offered after finishing school.  Coach Diego then migrated to Connecticut, where he was an Operations Manager for a local LA Fitness. Coach Diego then made his way back to Alabama where he became the Assistant Coach at his alma mater, Faulkner University.

Finally, after a year at Faulkner University and a chat with former coach Mike Potempa, Coach Diego made his way back to Montverde to become a SIMA Staff coach with a focus on Goalkeepers and he has been here ever since.

"I believe the values that have stayed with me from my time in the SIMA program have been hard work, perseverance, and maintaining a high standard. I think some pieces of advice I can give current SIMA student athletes is to immerse themselves in the program and ideas, and utilize the resources that we provide to grow as people and players."
