On Tuesday, May 9, SIMA hosted its sixth annual awards ceremony to recognize all student-athletes and all their efforts in the 2022-2023 academic year. Coaches from each of the SIMA teams presented their awards to those participants that earned the Eagle, MVP and Coaches Awards. SIMA Director Kevin Varnado also introduced the Varsity season, Student-Athlete of the year and Legacy awards. Hundreds of parents, student-athletes and coaches that support the program assisted at the NEST EdgeCenter for Sportsmanship and Wellness.

Kevin Varnado stated how one of the main SIMA values, resilience, was at the core of our day-to-day success in the 2022-23 year while maintaining focus and efforts in controlling the aspects that are in our control. 

A special note was the farewell to GK Director and Coach Christian Neira that will be moving to another state with his family. After 5 years of permanent growth in the program that included development of FIFA Youth World Cup participants and top college prospects in the position, coach Neira stated the importance of the SIMA Process in the development of excellence in the person, the student and the athlete, and in the SIMA staff as professionals in soccer education.
