The Montverde Academy Boys Varsity Soccer Team has been the most successful program in the nation for the past seven years and counting.

In January 2010-11, Mike Potempa began as Head Coach of the Montverde Academy Boys Varsity Soccer Program.  In his first season, Potempa led the Eagles to their first undefeated season in school history with a final overall record of 26 wins, 0 losses, and 1 draw.  In addition, the Eagles managed to finish the season recognized as the No.1 team in Central Florida according to the Orlando Sentinel, the No.1 team in the state of Florida by ESPN, and crowned 2010-11 National Champions by ESPN Rise Magazine and the POWERADE Fab 50.

From their first year of dominance, they only improved and expanded. In the 2012-13 season, the Eagles were once again recognized as the best high school soccer program in the United States by MaxPreps.com with a final overall record of 23 wins, 0 losses, and 4 draws.  Every senior in the Class of 2012 received an athletic scholarship to NCAA or NAIA institutions, including an unprecedented nine Division I signings.

In the same year, Potempa opened the Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy, otherwise known as S.I.M.A.  The new program originated from the national championship success MVA had with only one varsity team at Montverde Academy. Its purpose was to expand the soccer program at MVA in an effort to satisfy the demand that was continuing to grow over the course of the first three years of the boys varsity soccer team's success.  S.I.M.A. opened with 46 student athletes and a staff of only three.  In 2014-15, the numbers grew to 78 with a staff of four, and in 2016-17, it expanded to 164 student-athletes with a staff of seven.  In 2017, the S.I.M.A. Program now has a staff of 14 and over 200 student athletes from around the world studying full time and training in the same environment that has produced countless talents in collegiate and professional soccer.

The Montverde Academy Boys Varsity Soccer Program has been named the National Champions for seven consecutive seasons holding the longest unbeaten streak in the history of boys' varsity high school soccer in the United States. To date, they currently hold the nation's longest unbeaten record now standing at 175 consecutive matches with 167 wins, 0 losses, and 8 draws dating back to October 29, 2010.

According to Potempa, the biggest accomplishment that the athletes have had is not only on the field, but more importantly in the classroom.

"What I am most proud of with our group is that while we continue to accomplish great things on the field of competition, we consistently maintain an overall grade point average of 3.97 as a program across 200 student athletes," said Potempa. "This is very important to me because it's not just about what goes on between the lines, it's about learning and growing in all aspects of life through the game we all love."

Under Potempa, the Montverde Academy Boys Soccer Program has also witnessed over 150 student athletes graduate and go on to garner athletic and academic scholarships to colleges and universities across the country. They also have had 17 student athletes sign 1st team professional contracts in Europe, South American, Major League Soccer (MLS), and United Soccer League (USL).

"The student-athletes that come into the S.I.M.A. program know from day one that playing soccer at MVA is a privilege," said Potempa. "Each year we make sure that they know the magnitude of the opportunity they are given and that every day they must give maximum effort - first in the academic arena and then in their athletic pursuit; always in that exact order.
