Recently announced Orlando City B (OCB) Head Coach Fernando de Argila, traveled to South America to scout talent at two different clubs. Argila’s 10-day trip was focused on creating a competitive squad with consistent talent.

Argila is planning on finding young talents that fits his system of play as a way of creating an identity for the OCB team. With the goal of creating first team players, Argila foresees open and interchangeable communication between the OCB team and the first team by placing young players near the MLS level.

“The biggest lesson for a player is to show their professionalism in every moment on and off the pitch,” Argila said. “If they aren’t going to act professionally, they aren’t going to go very far.”

While in Brazil, Argila and Mike Potempa, Head Coach of the Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy (SIMA), watched a total of 10 games. Brazilian first division clubs Atletico Mineiro and Atletico Paranaense had games in serval different age groups including U23, U20, U19, U17 and U14 allowing both head coaches to see all ranges of young talents.

Argila has to consider his talent carefully considering that only seven international players are allowed on the squad. Hard work has been put into the creation of OCB and with the season around the corner, Montverde Academy and SIMA prepare for the arrival of club players.
