Introduction to Coaching Staff

Coach Leopoldo Jimenez

Leopoldo Jimenez joined the SIMA staff after concluding his long and successful international career as a professional player.  Coach Jimenez played as a professional in numerous countries including Russia (Alania Vladikavkaz 1st division), Cyprus (Aris Limassol 1st division), Spain (Cordoba CF 2nd division), Colombia (Once Caldas 1st division) and Venezuela (Deportivo Italchacao, Union Atletico Maracaibo, Deportivo Tachira, Deportivo Italia, Estudiantes de Merida, Carabobo FC, and Deportivo Anzoategui). As part of his illustrious professional playing career, Jimenez played in the Copa Libertadores de Americas, Copa Sudamericana, Copa Merconorte, and Copa CONMEBOL with different Venezuelan clubs. He has registered 74 caps with Venezuelan Senior National Team, playing in two World Cup qualification campaigns (2002, 2006), three Copa Americas (1999, 2001, 2004) and several other significant international tournaments.

After retiring from international football, he began his coaching career at Academia Nowak in Valencia, Venezuela. Upon making the decision to reside in the United States, Coach Jimenez began coaching for ACYS Spirit United in Orlando, Florida. It was this link that led Coach Jimenez to the SIMA program where he now works as a staff coach, with a US Soccer "B" license, to help players develop technically, tactically, physically and socially for a life in elite sport.

Coach Andrew Douek

Andrew Douek-Pirotte is an American-born, Argentinian-raised soccer coach with multimedia experience in sports journalism. He has been around the sport since early childhood becoming a young assistant coach, accomplishing later the highest youth and professional coaching badges within the Argentine Football Association (AFA). He also played basketball and volleyball at a college level in Argentina. As a sports journalist he was a member of Círculo de Periodistas Deportivos de Buenos Aires (CPD) voting as a jury for the most important sport awards in Argentina, and was also a part of the prestigious International Sports Press Association (AIPS).

While working in Europe he specialized in youth development and scouting. On top of his media content and design tertiary degrees he is a certified International Professional Scouting Organization (IPSO) scout, completed methodology courses with entities like the Spanish Players Federation (AFE) and training sessions from the biggest club talent developers such as Dinamo Zagreb. His scouting videos and recommendations have allowed young players attain scholarships in the US and switch from non-league clubs to professional contracts.

Soccer has always been his biggest passion and with his experience around the world he looks to help the United States soccer achieve its potential through the Soccer Institute at Montverde Academy (SIMA) program.

Coach Nico Pretelt

Before coming to SIMA, Nicolas Pretelt previously worked with Weston FC of the U.S. Development Academy. He brings more than 8 years of coaching experience at all levels which include, summer camps with Seattle Sounders, FC Barcelona Escola, and the performance analyst at Rowan University (NJ) & Barry University (Miami). While in South Florida, Pretelt worked with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers as a volunteer assistant. In 2015 to 2017 he gained experience working in the training programs at New York Red Bulls. He currently holds a USSF ‘B’ License and is the creator and organizer of the Miami Soccer Convention. An annual football congress where coaches get a chance to further their education and network with the best coaches in the industry.

As a player, Nicolas Pretelt played for Florida International University and continued his career training with different academies and first teams around South America: Estudiantes de la Plata, Santa Fe, Sete de Setembro, and Patriotas de Boyaca were some of the notable clubs that which allowed him exposure to world class players like Jozy Altidore, Pablo Piatti, Federico Fernandez, Andres Cadavid among others.
